(Under Construction)

The following History of the Eby Family is a digital copy (text only) of selected primary sources edited by Ezra E. Eby (1850-1901). The formal title is:

A BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY OF THE EBY FAMILY, BEING A HISTORY OF THEIR MOVEMENTS IN EUROPE DURING THE REFORMATION-and of-THEIR EARLY SETTLEMENT IN AMERICA;-as also-MUCH OTHER UNPUBLISHED HISTORICAL INFORMATION BELONGING TO THE FAMILY.

The History was published in 1889 in the city of Berlin (now Kitchener), Ontario, Canada, by Hett & Eby, Printers. This article series focuses on excerpts of the book as they relate to Mennonite history in Europe and North America. The full text of the book is available online as a .pdf file.

Preface

The publisher, in presenting this "History of the Eby Family", to the numerous descendants of our old ancestors THEODORUS EBY, PETER EBY, and NICHOLAS EBY, has endevoured to merit the approval of all, by presenting a work that will be found interesting to all branches of the Eby family.

It will be found to contain more information in regard to their persecution in Europe, their emigration to America, etc., than any other publication heretofore placed in the hands of the reader.

Among the contents will be found a short biographical history of the more prominent members of the family.

A work of this kind necessarily involves a great amount of expense and labor, and the publisher has spared neither, but has made every effort to make it as interesting and as perfect as could possibly be done at so late a date.

Thanking those who have so kindly given me information and their support, I remain, Respectfully Yours, EZRA E. EBY. Berlin, Ont., Sept. 14, 1889.

There is no copyright connected to this publication.
