Terry L. Brensinger is a professor called to preach. Never one to leave the Bible in an academic vacuum, his primary calling is to explore the meaning and relevance of the Old Testament for the contemporary church. His speaking engagements take him to churches and conferences throughout the country, both within and outside his own denomination.

Brensinger serves as professor of biblical studies and chair of the Biblical Studies, Religion, and Philosophy Department at Messiah College, Grantham, Pennsylvania. Before he began teaching at Messiah in 1985, he pastored churches in Columbia, Kentucky, and in New York City. In 1992–93, he served as visiting professor of biblical studies at Daystar University in Nairobi, Kenya. In 1992–93, he was a scholar in residence at the Ecumenical Institute (Tantur) in Jerusalem.

Born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Brensinger received his B.A. from Messiah College, an M.Div. from Asbury Theological Seminary, an M.A. in Near Eastern Archaeology from Drew University, and his M.Phil. and Ph.D. in Old Testament studies, also from Drew. In addition, he has studied at Jerusalem University College, Princeton Theological Seminary, and the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. He is a member of the American Schools of Oriental Research and the Society of Biblical Literature.

Brensinger has published Simile and Prophetic Language in the Old Testament. He and E. Morris Sider edited Within the Perfection of Christ: Essays on Peace and the Nature of the Church. His work has also appeared in The Asbury Bible Commentary, The Anchor Bible Dictionary, The New International Dictionary of Old Testament Theology and Exegesis, and various scholarly journals and church magazines. Terry and Debra Brensinger are active members of the Grantham Brethren in Christ Church. They are the parents of three children: Timothy, Jordan, and Julie.
